OKLAHOMA HAS AN ANIMAL FRIENDLY LICENSE TAG!

Animal-loving Oklahomans are able to celebrate an incredible achievement—the passage of a bill that will allow the purchase of an Animal Friendly license plate as well as a check-off box on our Oklahoma state income taxes designated for a Pet Overpopulation Fund. No other state has been able accomplish passing BOTH of these statutes.

The cost of the plate is $35, and $20 of that will go into an Overpopulation Fund. The funds generated will be used for a statewide spay/neuter voucher program for low-income pet owners. Close to half of all the states have a similar tag and program and have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars. The result has been a large decrease in the number of animals that must be euthanized at shelters in those states.

Over 100,000 animals are euthanized in Oklahoma each year. Everyone pays for pet overpopulation! But for every $1 spent on spay/neuter, $3.23 is saved by taxpayers. YOU can help end the needless suffering of hundreds of thousands of animals in Oklahoma each year.  Join other progressive thinking animal lovers and send in your application today!  Be a part of the solution to our pet overpopulation crisis.

Applications are available at your local tag agencies and can be downloaded at http://www.okvma.org/associations/2557/files/710BANIMALFRIENDLYAPP.pdf

Oklahoma residents can also support the Oklahoma Pet Overpopulation Fund by designating the amount of your Oklahoma Income Tax Refund that you wish to donate to the Oklahoma Pet Overpopulation Fund.  See Schedule 511 - H on your 2004 Oklahoma Resident Individual Income Tax Forms and Instructions (page 5).  Also, Schedule 511 - H  Information on Page 6 provides the  address that Oklahoma residents, not receiving an income tax return, may use to donate to the Oklahoma Pet Overpopulation Fund.  (Donations to this fund may be mailed to Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry, Animal Industry Division, 2800 N. Lincoln Blvd. Oklahoma City, OK 73105.)
